A Step of Obedience

After one receives Jesus Christ as his or her Savior, the next step of obedience is to be baptized in water. This is commanded by Jesus Himself:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit… (Matthew 28:19)

A Common Misunderstanding

One common misunderstanding about baptism is that one must be “good enough” to be baptized. Baptism is not about whether we are “good enough”. Our right standing with God comes through our relationship with Jesus Christ and what He accomplished for us by His death on the cross.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.  (2 Corinthians 5:21)

What Baptism Symbolizes

Baptism symbolizes the burial of our old self and raising up of our new life in Christ.

Baptism is a beautiful picture of what Jesus has done for us. What a precious gift God has given us to be able to identify ourselves with Jesus. If you have received Jesus as your Savior and have not yet been baptized, contact our pastor or the church office (530) 743-5435. He will be happy to discuss it with you and schedule your baptism.
