Loma Rica Community Church began in the 1940’s as several rural families met together
for Bible study on Sunday evenings at a time when there were no churches in Loma Rica /
Browns Valley, and traveling into Marysville to attend church was a day’s outing.
In the early 1950’s, the group grew to a size that led them to decide to organize into
a church. Because there was such a diverse background to those who comprised the group,
they decided to make the new church a “Community” church, emphasizing the essential truths
of the gospel, rather than denominational distinctives. Loma Rica Community Church has
been focusing on what unites us in Jesus Christ ever since.

John Reed Moy was called to serve as the founding pastor. The church first met in the Loma
Rica Grange Hall. In 1954, the current church building was dedicated. John and his wife Helen
served Loma Rica Community Church and the foothill community with great energy and effectiveness.
In 1980, Wayne Vincent was called to serve with John as an associate pastor. That same year,
John died unexpectedly, and Wayne became the pastor. In 1995, David Rice joined the church staff
as youth pastor and currently serves as associate pastor.

to love God through Jesus Christ, love one another, and make Christ known in our community,
