I was born in Brooklyn, New York, the second of three siblings. My family attended a Baptist church and at the age of 10 I made a personal commitment of my life to Jesus Christ.

When I was eleven, my family moved to Los Angeles. I attended UCLA, where I was a member of the men’s Crew Team for four years, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. In 1968, I married my wife, Donna.

I then attended Talbot Theological Seminary, and graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity degree, while serving as Youth Pastor of East Whittier Friends Church. In 1972, our son, Eric, was born.

My home church, Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, ordained me in 1973. The same year our family moved to San Diego, where I served on the staff of Young Life. From 1975 to 1980, I was the Area Director of Young Life in Escondido. In 1976, our daughter, Larisa, arrived.

In 1980, we came to Loma Rica Community Church to serve as associate pastor with the founding pastor of twenty-seven years, John Moy. Two months after I arrived, John died unexpectedly, and I became the pastor of the church.

While serving as pastor of LRCC, I have completed a Master of Arts degree in counseling from the University of San Francisco, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. I have been serving as a member of the Yuba County Office of Education Board of Trustees since 1994.

I enjoy backpacking, reading history, biographies, theology, psychology, philosophy, current events, politics, and English murder mysteries. I am also a proud and active grandfather of eleven grandchildren.
